RIDE-ME, one time Aug 13 2006
So, RIDE-ME has hit version one, and I’m proud to say I was able to be a part of it. In fact this is the first release that has some of my work in it, namely the add-in architecture, and the console add-in built on top of that. It’s shaping up pretty nicely now, and recently I’ve been working on a Rails project using RM with almost no problems. I know I’m a bit behind the times blogging about the release, but come on people, please digg it - we are getting plenty of downloads but a spot on the digg.com frontpage wouldn’t go a miss ;-)
Commentary Apr 25 2006
Ok comments are back - simply look at an individual post on my blog now, and underneath, an “Add Comment” section has appeared. Simply enter your comment (just a simple textbox for now I’m afraid) and who you are, then hit “Comment!”. I’m going to be doing some serious development on the entire software soon and commenting will be done properly - but for now at least it’s an arbitrary way for any readers wishing to comment, to do so.

Intriguing Apr 18 2006
Catching up on some of the weekends tidbits, I noticed RSSBus - this looks quite interesting, and reading through the whitepaper brings up some intriguing ideas - however until I can play with the actual product, I’m not sure how useful it’ll actually end up being. Not sure I count as an “early adopter” or “influencer” either ;-)

scanR Apr 18 2006
This is pretty cool, with my 2-megapixel Sony K750i, who needs a scanner now? I might have to give it a go a little later, let’s see how I get on.

GWritely Mar 9 2006
Ooh, a favourite of mine, Writely, acquired by Google. Can’t say I’m surprised, it was such a quality service that it was only a matter of time before one of the big boys decided “hey, that’d be a nice feather in our cap”. Add to that Google’s apparent desire to crush Microsoft, and you’ve got the recipe for one nice acquisition. No figures banded about from what I can see yet though, it’d be interesting to see how it stacks up to a few other interesting sales over the last few months. Glad to see current service is unaffected, as it’s something I use regularly (dare I say, almost rely on?). Also, smart move locking down registrations for the time being, should ensure that there’s no degradation in the service due to the obvious interest spike this will create. Exciting times, and congratulations to the guys and gals over at Writely.

Ride the 'Vine Mar 4 2006
So I see that Newsvine has launched. Sweet. I’ve been involved in the beta test going on for the last eight weeks or so, and now the site, its features, and its content, is available to all. Such a great idea, and with a really nice implementation, it’s feature set has already grown since when I first started using it, and with more improvements planned, it’s got a bright future. Come on in and ride the ‘vine!
